What is Financial Planning for Individuals with Disabilities?


Financial Planning for Individuals with Disabilities is a training designed for disability professionals, representative payees, and others who work one-on-one with people with disabilities.

During this two-part virtual training, you will gain the skills, tools, and confidence needed to support individuals with disabilities engage in person-centered financial planning.

Training Details

  • Financial Planning for Individuals with Disabilities is a training designed for disability professionals, representative payees, and others who work one-on-one with people with disabilities. The training content will equip learners with the knowledge, skills and tools needed for supporting informed financial decision-making amongst individuals with disabilities.

    • Build skills and confidence for informal financial decision-making, while emphasizing autonomy and self-determination

    • Help disability professionals, representative payees, and others who work one-on-one with people with disabilities to engage in financial planning for a Good Life

    • Learn how to use a person-centered approach to align financial planning with personal goals, values, and disability-related need

  • This training will occur in two parts over the course of two days. You must attend part one and part two to complete the training in its entirety.

    The training will be offered more than once to allow learners to register for the training that best fits their schedule.

  • Financial Planning for Individuals with Disabilities learners who attend a Train-the-Trainer session are invited to attend weekly office hours to ask questions, refine training knowledge, and share strategies for engaging individuals with disabilities in financial planning for a Good Life.

    Office hours will be held via Microsoft Teams every Tuesday at 9:00 am ET starting June 30, 2026.
